Other than these updates above, I haven't done a single thing to the room, sadly. So it's time.
Here are a few photos of what we've got and what's staying:
I really thought this dresser was going to be temporary when we bought our home - the former seller actually left this piece for us mainly because it was too darn heavy and bulky to get down the stairs (fun for us when we move!) But I've grown to appreciate its potential, so a makeover it will get. You've probably noticed I've already taken one drawer out to get started. (Do you like all of our stuff on there?? Oh my...embarrassing! But I know you guys don't care as long as I can whip it together in the end, right?)
**Any movie buffs out there? I'm not at all, but that kangaroo piece on the right hand side of the dresser was in a movie - do you know what movie it was in? Only reason I know is because my husband pointed it out to me when I watched it for the first time with him.
You also get a peek at the floors in this photo too - they are in great shape. We were
exhausted pleasantly surprised when we tore up the carpets. Here is another photo of the mirror that goes with the dresser - this will also get a new coat of paint:
Hey, there's me taking this photo! And yes, there is a second dresser there to the left - this houses my husbands t-shirts. Yes, t-shirts. How can I get rid of this piece without him knowing?
Then we have this nightstand that will also be getting a makeover...and I did not plant that Traditional Home there I promise - I fell asleep reading last night and that's what I had in my hand.
And as you can see I already started on the drawer - what can I say I have no patience when I want to see what something "could" look like with a little paint and a new knob (knob is from Lowe's). Here's a close-up of the drawer.
Also in this photo, you also get a sneak peek of our coverlet which is Dwell Studio from Target. I LOVE this coverlet - it's perfect and lightweight. Highly recommend these if you are thinking about getting one. AND, we need a headboard, BADLY!! So I will be keeping my eye out for one in my travels.
I got this lamp a few years ago at HomeGoods and I love it so it will also be staying in the room.
Sidebar: Can we talk alarm clocks for a minute? Are there any stylish/cool alarm clocks out there? Why are the only effective alarm clocks from 1989? Please shed some light on this for me if you have a successful alarm clock that is also easy on the eyes.
So there you have it for my master bedroom makeover brain dump - thanks so much if you're still reading I need to hash this out for my own
A quick recap of my to-do list:
- Sand/prime/paint dresser and mirror
- Sand/prime/paint nightstand
- Find a second nightstand (I like the mis-matched look) so this will most likely also involve sand/prime/paint procedure
- Find headboard
- New window treatments
- Area rug
Doesn't seem too bad, does it? I should really set a deadline for myself to get this done. Thanksgiving it is! I'll keep you posted on the process and come up with a design board if I can.
Here's to revamping the master!
