Catching Up

I'm taking some time to catch up on my magazine reading and R&R. The newest issue of House Beautiful arrived in the mailbox today and I was like a kid on Christmas - although I still haven't finished reading through October I'm still excited to start browsing through November's issue.

One quick question for you...have you noticed plaids popping on the scene? In last month's House Beautiful, I counted at least four instances of plaids used in spaces. I also came across this post on Apartment Therapy that poses the question, classic or fad?

These are some fun plaids from the Lilly Pulitzer line for Lee Jofa:

You could do some fun things with these fabrics - no wonder the fabric is called Happy Plaid!

My vote is...classic all the way.

What are your thoughts on plaid?

  1. I've always loved plaid, especially a classic tartan around the holidays, but these Lily Pulitzer plaids are fantastic! They would be great in a kid's room. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your hard-earned R&R.

  3. My vote is definitely classic and timeless! I love plaids and am so excited to see them popping up again everywhere! For me, I think a plaid throw is in order for the fall and winter! :)

  4. Thanks for the comment Holly! I used to live near you, in Northern Virginia! I miss that area dreadfully though even though I am back home in Canada.

The plaid is classc, reminds me of the preppy 80's look:) Can't wait for my HB mag to arrive in the mail!

  5. I definitely think it's a classic but I really don't care for it. I think it may have something to do with my high school uniform!! I don't think I'll be having any plaid in my home.

  6. Plaid has been around forever and I don't see it going away...a definite classic.

  7. My House Beautiful awaits on my dresser, it's tempting to go to bed early!

As for plaid, fun for pillows or items you can easily change out. I lived with a plaid sofa way past its' time so I'm probably not as enthusiastic as others. :)

  8. Classic for sure but I've never been a fan. I don't think I would have even considered these ones to be plaid- I do like them though.

  9. I don't know...I'm still recovering from all the plaid my mom used in decorating our house growing up. I think I'm going to steer clear of it for a little while :)

  11. It is most certainly a classic. I have a plaid skirted upholstered armchair (10 yrs old) which I was contemplating slipcovering but perhaps I shall leave it be for a while.
