A Someday Office

We don't have a room dedicated to an office right now. We have a desk set-up in our basement that serves the purpose, but someday I'd love to have a room dedicated to an office. I've seen so many great offices out on the web recently and it got me thinking about what our home office might look like someday. Here's what I came up with for the time being.

I'm usually one that gravitates toward vibrant colors, but I've decided to take a neutral approach to this office and would throw in some splashes of coral or orange. I've really been admiring neutral spaces lately so that was the inspiration behind this board. The Annie Selke fabric at the bottom left corner is what started it all and I knew I wanted to pair it with a soft floral, which is when I chose the Schumacher floral next to it. I also love the piece of driftwood art by Etsy seller paintsquare. They have so many great pieces in their shop and this one was perfect for this space. Here are my sources:

Artwork - Etsy seller paintsquare
Amazing Things print - Etsy seller MaryKateMcDevitt
Expedit storage - Ikea
Herringbone rug - Rugs USA
Storage ottoman - Target
Magazine file - See Jane Work
Tan fabric - Annie Selke
Floral fabric - Schumacher
Pillow - Pottery Barn
Metal Parsons desk - West Elm
Floor lamp - Circa

Do you like any of the elements on this board? What is your office set-up at home?

I'm ready for the weekend! Who's with me? Have a great one!

  1. Love that ottoman from Target, and with storage, perfect for an office!

  2. I think I'm your exact opposite. I love neutral spaces except for my home office. It's filled with red, orange, yellow, blue and green.

So loving the magazine file here. Are you picturing your collection filling a bunch of those?

  3. Looks great Holly! I would love a beautiful office too. Instead, I work at a craft-table in the living room. I like the look of a Parsons desk - so sleek and efficient looking. The driftwood art is really cool too.

  4. This is great- I could move everything right in! I am ready for the weekend because I'm dying to get more work done on my home office- I don't think I've ever been so excited about getting a project done!

  5. It looks so calming and elegant, Holly. I absolutely love that rug.

Right now we have an office/dressing room set up in a spare bedroom, but down the road my basement will have to stand-in and will need a huge transformation to do so.

I love that you included budget-friendly sources.

    Have a great weekend!

  6. The artwork is what first caught my eye and so did the Annie Selke fabric..great choices. I can see you are veering or just experimenting with the neutrals. It's great to explore options. Great-looking board. I like the black&white striped mag holder. Currently have 2 desks in my study (one is a converted piano desk which I will share some day). Enjoy your weekend!

  7. We are lucky enough to have space in our home for a dedicated office. I love the board you put together especially the chair. Neutral offices are my favorite!

  8. BEAUTIFUL design. I think neutral is good in a space where you need to think and be can add your inspiration photos fabrics, etc.

  9. I love this design! What a wonderful, serene place to work! I could definitely see blogging in this space. :) I love the rug and magazine file- great patterns! Thanks for introducing me to 2 new etsy sellers too! :)
