Just Playing Around

Good Morning friends! We've had some spotty wireless connections here on the homefront, and since I do most of my posts on our laptop, that hasn't lent much time for me to get a post together.

But I was playing around a little bit with a design board and figured I'd show you what I came up with.

I call this vignette Uptown Chic.

Design boards are like building blocks to me. I usually start with my inspiration (in this case it was the purple trellis fabric) and build out from there. A lot of times I'll draft up something small (like I did above) and then walk away for a while. I'll think about functionality, color, style, and of course product.

For this vignette, I went from fabric, to leopard, to chair, to side table (like that stream of consciousness?). What I envisioned here was a woman's uptown apartment that had a sitting area for entertaining friends or having cocktails. And again, it's just the beginning of the story.

I hope to be back tomorrow with some TGIFiles for you.

It's supposed to go up to 70 degrees here today in southeastern PA - spring is here! Birds are chirpring. Hints of green are sprouting from the ground - very exciting!

(PS - has anyone had problems saving Sherwin Williams color chips from their website? I never used to have problems but just recently I haven't been able to save them.)

  1. Very chic Holly....I go about creating boards in the same way....stream of consciousness! And yes to the problems of saving the Sherwin paint chips, which is a bummer for creating design boards.....

  2. Love the purple and leopard together! I normally copy the SW paint chips from other sites. Haven't tried to save them directly from SW lately. That's a bummer.

  3. Oh, Holly...love your stream on this one! The trellis is always a favorite, and you can't go wrong with a touch of leopard, then the unexpected table base, perfect!

  4. I love the purple trellis fabric, and that chair... great lines! We're not anywhere close to 70, but the fact that it's bright and dry is a very good thing :-) Spring is definitely in the air - it's so uplifting to, and we're loving the light that it brings. Hope your wireless stops misbehaving on you! Have a great day, Holly.

  5. I love that purple trellis fabric! Someone just mentioned that Benjamin Moore changed their online color chips, which made them hard to save. Hmmmmm .....

  6. Fun and chic! Love the sidetable, it adds a fun unexpected touch. I can't believe it's 70 there. We're having 40 mph winds and we're expecting snow.

  7. I love that your mood boards have a story :)
I think I need that leopard pillow.

  8. The leopard pattern and the base of the table go hand-in-hand and the rug takes the whole design to another level - so uptown, and the curve of the chair is elegant.

  9. I love the mix of the soft purple color with the bold leopard print!

  10. I think the chair's softly curving lines are so feminine and pretty. I'd love to sit here and have a cocktail.

  11. I'm so glad to have read this today Holly. I'm playing around with making a design board, I've never made one before. Do you have a program you use to make it or some photo editing site or what? Any easy tips? Thanks!
