John Robshaw Fabrics

Come join the next Mood Board Monday hosted by Sarah. Sarah has selected the inspiration item to be some knock-your-socks-off block-printed John Robshaw fabrics.

I love this quote in Robshaw's bio from his website:

"Textiles become intimate companions in daily life, whether as a pillow, bedcover, or sarong."

All of the fabrics are inspired by John's travels to Asia (and most recently Bolivia) and the techniques that he has observed to block print each textile. The process is really interesting.

Here are the textiles I'll be using as inspiration:

I have no clue what I'll be creating yet, but I'm sure something will strike me at some point. The fun thing about the Mood Board Monday's is that everyone's board is different and we all have a different way of interpreting the inspiration.

Head on over to Sarah's blog, Pewter + Sage, to see the other 2 fabric combos that you can choose from. I also want to point out that you don't have to create a design board in a specific program. You can take photos of items that inspire you or put together a collage of photos that help you bring together the look you want to achieve. I'm thinking about mixing it up a bit this time around - we'll see.

AND, I have to give her a big shout out, Sarah is going to be illustrating a children's book! I'm so excited for her.

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Oh, I always love seeing the different takes everyone comes up with. That is a great block print and one of my favorite colors! Enjoy the weekend, Holly!

  2. I'm so excited for this challenge :). I love the fabrics you chose -- I still can't decide. But I'm sure, the day before we post, something will come to me :)

  3. Wow! I wasn't expecting this when I started reading:) Thank you so much, Holly! I really appreciate you plugging MBM, and you are right about the format of the "mood board", thank you for pointing that out, hopefully we get some new people. I was thinking of going with the purple/pink combo, to really challenge myself, but I'm thinking I'm going to do #3, the blue and navy. Still not sure what kind of room yet though.

Thank you, thank you for your support about the book!!! You're a great friend:)

  4. Oh John Robshaw. What an amazing job he has, and such talent. I'd love a little piece of his fabric in my house somewhere!!

  5. I wish I could squeeze in a mood board before Monday bc those fabrics definitely give me tones of inspiration. Can't wait to see your's!
