New Project - A Refresher

I wanted to show you a quick peek of a new project that I'm working on currently.

This client has a lot of great existing pieces of furniture in her home, so we're going to do a refresher:  new paint on the walls, some new pillows, and perhaps a new piece of art or two. This will give her main living area a new look without spending a ton of money.

You can see the existing wood floors in the photos below, and you can also see the current color on the walls. It's a buttery yellow color and we're going to change that up to compliment the floors and the existing elements in the room. A fresh coat of paint on the trim is also going to freshen up this space.

We're also in the process of getting quotes on reupholstering this chair...

Isn't this chair great? I love it, and I actually don't mind the existing fabric on it (it's in great shape), but I think freshening it up with some new fabric will really jazz it up.

I love the double welt detail around the seat of the chair.

Baby got back. I'm thinking a geometric fabric in a rich color would be oh so good on this chair. We'll see.

And one more - profile shot.

Oh and this chair has a cousin that is not currently in the room. Cousin is sitting in the basement all lonely and looking for a place to hang - I think it could work in this space but we're going to discuss once we get our quotes in and make some decisions.

So I'll be checking back once I get the rest of the elements together. A paint color was chosen yesterday and I can't wait to see it up on the walls. This is an open floor plan so the color will be throughout the entire first floor.

Happy Tuesday my friends - what's going on in your neck of the woods today?

Have you had any furniture upholstered recently?

  1. Doesn't look so bad in Photos - good thing you did not post with the grey paint all over the walls. I woke up today and forgot there were 6 shades of grey on my wall.

  2. I adore this chair!!!! It looks to be in good shape but it shouldn't cost much at all to recover given how little area is covered. I can't wait to find out how it works out.

  3. The chair has definite charm! I'm curious to how much they quote to reupholster. Just this weekend, I was thinking of trying my hand at upholstering.....it would definitely be an accomplishment!

  4. Oh I love unique little chairs with personality and a geometric, my favorite!! I just got quotes back for two dining room chairs, $300 each not including the fabric, which takes them right up to ridiculous - trying to justify, shouldn't take long! :)

  9. That chair is a perfect reupholstering candidate, and I hope cousin gets to be part of the makeover, too. A geometric pair would make a great impact. Looking forward to the outcome.

  10. That chair has a great shape. Will you be painting the wood or keeping it natural? Looking forward to seeing how it turns out. I doubt that it will be too expensive to recover.

  11. Love the shape of the chair and it looks so comfortable. I have done some simple reupholstery myself - not shared yet - and am undertaking something a little more complicated. Hopefully it should work out and I can write a post on it.
