What Does Blue Do For You?

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd check in. I've got a few new design projects under way that are keeping me busy and that I hope to share with you soon. In the meantime, I thought I'd share a few fun fabrics on my radar.

Blue is such a classic. And with the election getting closer and closer, we're going to be seeing a lot of blue and red and white. It's Americana which I love. Blue skies, the ocean blue, denim - all things that get you thinking blue.

The fabric at the very bottom I've been admiring for a while. It's bold and deep and rich with a chocolate damask on navy background. I haven't used it in a project at all yet, but it would really be great on a wingback chair.  Source: Duralee

That dotted fabric never gets old to me. It's the perfect small scale - this is also Duralee.

That moody blue fabric at the very top is very on trend right now with faux bois being so popular.

And the Schumacher Adari ikat fabric combines a darker denim blue with a softer blue. This would be a perfect pop of pattern on a pillow mixed with a large floral fabric.

Sheila is really into letters, numbers, and colors right now.  We often have the conversation of: What is your favorite color Mommy? My favorite color is green. Sheila's is pink and Daddy's is blue.

Do you have a favorite color? Do you find a lot of your favorite color in your wardrobe and home?

  3. LOVE those patterns, Holly! I think I could play with fabrics all day. How exciting you're busy with design projects, can't wait to see how they're coming along. Favorite color - always changing, but I like Sheila's choice!

  4. Love these fabrics!!! I am working on a project with navy weaving throughout the first floor, will have to check these out in person! Green seems to be my fave as it is the unifying color in my house.

  6. Beautiful fabrics! Maybe you've noticed, but I LOVE blue. Like, super love it. Even though it's considered a cool, it just feels so warm and inviting to me. And, that is clearly reflected in my house color choices.

  7. Beautiful fabrics, Holly! One of the things I find most challenging is how differently fabric can read close up vs. across the room. I have often found fabrics I LOVE, then from afar they read dull and lifeless! Tiny patterns especially can read just a single color from afar - I'm always placing fabric samples on the far side of the room and trying to get an idea how they will really read in the space. Hmmm, I think I need to write a post about that!

  8. I love blue, especially that faux bois pattern up there, fantastic!!! Surprisingly, I don't have as many shades of blue in my house as I would like, or I have them in the wrong way (remember my crazy bathroom walls?!). I should get on rectifying that. I love green and gray too. My wardrobe in no way lines up with my taste in decor colors. Hmmm...

  10. Hi Holly, neat fabrics. My favorite is the schumacher ikat. Favorite color is green too. It is funny how kids love to know people's favorite colors....Luke is always telling people, "My mommy's favorite color is green and mine is blue!"

  11. My favorite fabric pattern-wise is the ikat although I do love (and can imagine) the texture on the faux bois one. I love shades of blue..I tend to lean towards shades of teal and turquoise.

  13. Blue is my favorite color, so why do I have so little of it in my house?!?! These are especially cute fabrics. Love the faux bois and the polka.

  14. I really love the fabric on the bottom. I'm always drawn to bold graphics that somehow have a traditional reference, even just a hint, and I love blue. It's definitely my favorite color. Although I have many close seconds, blue unifies (and maybe overrides) my home and wardrobe. As usual, you have an amazing way of weaving fabrics together to play so nicely!
