Big Girl Room Updates

Happy April 1st! I wish I could say I had some updates on finding a house. Hopefully soon.

I do have a few updates on Sheila's big girl room. Ideally, when we move I'd like to transition her right into her new room = new bed = new bedding, sheets, etc. So I started ordering things so we're ready to go.

Here's my inspiration board I had posted about previously...

My jumping off points were the photos in the upper right and bottom right corner - a color palette of pale pink and pale blue. Then I came across the Thomas Paul Botany fabric and thought that was a perfect choice for some window treatments. Here's a photo of the full repeat so you can see more of it.  Seeing the full repeat allows you to see the variety of flowers and insects brought into the pattern - perfect for a young girl's room.

And here are some of the items that I've picked up thus far...

I got the blue floral sham (top right) and princess sheets (bottom right) at Pottery Barn Kids. The sheets were on sale so that was a big score.

I also ordered the pink floral block print pillow cover from Lands End. I can't say enough good things about this pillow cover - it's so pretty in person. And, wait for it, on sale for $16.99.

Lastly, I did a little digging at Target the other day, and found this quilt in the twin size that I needed on clearance. Love seeing that sale sticker!

I'm excited to have made a little progress on this project - at least someone will have a room ready for her when we move :)  I've also been scouring Craig's List in search of a bed so hoping to find something soon at a good price.

Hope you had a great weekend! Hard to believe it's April already.

  1. This is going to be such a charming space. Love the botanical print you found - I think the larger scale makes it feel so now!

  2. Awesome, Holly!! Its so fun, isn't it?! Glad I am not the only one just buying stuff without implementing it yet;) I looove what you have so far, this room is going to be so pretty. Seriously, that fabric is amazing. Way to score on the PB Kids stuff!!! I never would have thought to get a pillow like that at Lands End. Great find!!! Good luck with the bed...we just actually brought home my old twin headboard and foot board (from when I was growing up) for Maura this weekend, got it while we were at my parents for Easter. Still hesitant about the transition, but at least now we are both looking a bit more prepared:) Hope the house hunting pays off soon!

  3. It just keeps getting better, love everything you've pulled together. You'll be so happy you have the major pieces finished, her room is going to be darling!

  4. Holly, I love all your finds! You already know I love TP Botany fabric - so pretty! And, that Lands End pillow - love it! Sheila is one very lucky girl and I'm sure she is excited to have her new big girl room in her new house!!

  5. It's going to be a beautiful room. Great find on the Land's End pillow. I never think to check their site for decor. I will from now on.

  6. I love finding great deals! Your daughter's room is coming along beautifully. I love the fabrics, art and entire color scheme. It will be so pretty!

  7. I love the quilt and all the other pieces - the pink pillow cover is a gorgeous shade of blush. Great scores, Holly!

  8. LOVE the sham!!! This will be so pretty! Love that red sticker at Target!

  9. Love seeing your finds and can just imagine how pretty this room is going to be. Congrats on finding the perfect new home, and I'll be crossing my fingers for you that it all goes well!
